About

I have always been fascinated by my family's history,  but I never had the time or resources to do more than have an interest.  When I retired two years ago, I had more time, and with the ancestry websites that are so easy to join, I had research capability available at my fingertips.  What a gift!!

In 2013, I created a book for my father William Older (85 years old at the time).  This book contains:
  • Photographs from my father's collection that were taken between 1918 - 1989.
  • Copies of documents handed down from his uncle Carl Thurman Older which had been retyped by my first cousin Linda Older.
  • My personal research performed using Archives.com, Myheritage.com and Findmypast.co.uk and includes:  Family Trees, Marriage, Death, and Birth Records from England and the United States, World War I Registration Card for James Edward Older (my grandfather), newspaper articles, and other interesting findings about the family.

Generations - The Older/Deakle Heritage

The Older Family Heritage on Blogger was created for family members to access the book and other information I have gathered.
With paid memberships at the sites listed above, I was able to search for information in the United States and Great Britain.  With that access,  I was able to piece together and verify a lot of information about my family's heritage from census reports, newspaper articles, military records, and records of birth, death, and marriage. With access to Findagrave.com, I was able to find burial sites and a lot of other valuable information pertaining to family descendants and ancestors.
Comparing my information to that in other Family Trees was very helpful, but I often found inconsistencies, so I preferred to do my own research to validate the relationships, but I did add family members when I felt the information was valid.

Of course, there is still a lot more to discover so this site is definitely a work in progress.
